AfriNutriForest – Felderfing Project 2023
The ‘Capacity Development Program for Lecturers and Managers of the Green colleges 2022-2023’ is conceptualized in line with the goals of the ‘One World – No Hunger’ special initiative. In pursuit of these goals, Green Innovation Centres for the Agriculture and Food Sector have cooperated with agricultural vocational training centers in 14 coutries. The training centres, also known as “Green Colleges”, strive to anchor innovations in their curricula and promote best agricultural practices order to increase farmers’ incomes, boost employment and improve local food supplies. For doing so, capacity-building of lecturers and managers at our Green Colleges’ partners is a crucial element.
According to the SLE vision, only a strong participatory practical and cooperative training approach leads to sustainable transformation of processes. In that sense, the project activities target the creation of strong participatory and pedagogical approaches for partner lecturers and managers. These support the conduction of their educational activities and an improvement of the quality of education at green colleges, including the management of acquired competencies. Moreover, it is expected to create a strong and dynamic network of representatives of the green colleges, that assumes and promotes an exchange of good practices and information.
The outcomes of the Capacity Development Programme are expected as follows:
- Lecturers’ methodological-didactic skills are strengthened
- Support for the change processes of management staff is initiated and accompanied
- A vital “Community of Practice (CoP)” among different green colleges is created if the needs and demands from the partner are confirmed (conditions of success and sustainability)
So far, there have been 18 Trainings conducted in an in-person or hybrid format as well as 5 in-person South-South and South-North exchanges (in Cameroon, Mali, Nigeria and Germany). Moreover, the “Community of Practice (CoP)” has started its first autonomous activities. Using social media channels and in-person meetings, representatives of four green colleges have structured a digital organization for empowering and connecting with other colleges, as well as for writing proposals for grant applications.
In the comming weeks a second South-North exchange in Germany with 25 representatives of different Green Colleges will take place at SLE and partner organizations around the topic of practice oriented training. We are looking forward to this 10 days exchange and to conducting a series of didactical and pedagogical workshops tailored to our partners’ field work in rural education.
